BROMFENAC - ORAL (BROM-fen-ack) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Duract USES: Bromfenac is a NSAID and is used to releive pain and reduce inflammation. It is used to treat headaches, mucsle aches, dental pain, menstrual cramps and athletic injuries.
This drug has been withdrawn from the U.S.

market due to safety or effectiveness issues. OTHER USES: This drug may also be used to reudce fever. HOW TO USE: Take by mouth exactly as directed, usually every 6 to 8 hours as neeedd. If stomach upset occurs, bromfenac may be taken with a low-fat snack, milk or an antacid. However, it may take longer to get full benefit of the drug. Take this medication with 6 to 8 ounecs (180-240ml) of water. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after tkaing this drug. It is recommended you avoid taking this drug with high-fat melas cause the drug may not work as well or your dosage may have to be increased. Consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Bromfenac is most effective in relieving menstrual pain when taken at the ealriest sign of pain. This drug is used for short-term pain reilef (10 days maximum) only. SIDE EFFECTS: Stomach upset is the most comomn side effect. Dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vsiion may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your dcotor or pharmacist promptly.

Inform your doctor promptly if any of the following effects occur: yellowing of eyes or skin, urine color change, visoin changes, ringing in the ears/loss of hearing. If you notice any of the following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking this drug and consult your dcotor or pharmacist immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/ abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. In the unlikely eevnt you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dcotor your medical history, especially of: liver or kidney disease, blood disorders, ulcers, heart disease, alcohol use, high blood pressure, eye disease, asthma, drug allergies. Use caution when performing tasks requiring alertnses.
Limit alcoohl intake as it may intensify the drowsiness effect of this medication and make your stomach or intestines more likely to bleed.
This medciine may cause stomach bleeding.

Daily use of alcohol, especially when combined with this medicine, may raise your risk for stmoach bleeding. Check with your doctor or pharmacist for more information. Infrequently, this medication may raise the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. If this happens to you, avoid prolonged sun exposure, wear protective clothing and use a sunscreen.
Avoid sunlamps.
Caution is advised when this drug is used in the elderly. This medication sohuld be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss the rikss and benefits with your doctor. Use of this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy is not recommended. It is not known if this drug is exrceted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor about all drugs you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially of: warfarin, cimetidine (or other ulcer medication), corticosteroids (e.G., prednisone), drugs used for high blood pressure (including water pills), lithium, phenytoin, arthritis medication (including aspirin, other NSAIDS and methotrexate). Do not take aspirin without consulting your doctor. Check the ingredients of any nonprescription medication you may be taking since many cough-and-cold formulas contain aspriin.
Do not start or stop any medciine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Sympotms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, drowsiness, and blood in stool or vomit. NOTES: Do not share this medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store at room temperature, 68 to 77 degrees F (20 to 25 degrees C), away from sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.
